Joel Benjamin, a 22-year-old volleyball player from Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, is emerging as a rising star in the RR Kabel Prime Volleyball League powered by Scapia. After an impressive performance with Chennai Blitz in Season 3, he was acquired by Bengaluru Torpedoes for ₹96.5 lakh in this year's auction, highlighting his growing reputation in the league.
Inspired by his father and encouraged by his elder brother, who also plays in the PVL, Joel began his volleyball journey at the age of 10. The RR Kabel Prime Volleyball League has significantly elevated Indian volleyball by offering professional exposure and financial incentives to young players like Joel. He noted that the league has raised the sport's profile through exposure to international players and systems, while his own achievements include winning a gold medal with Madras University at the All India Inter-University Championship and a bronze medal with Tamil Nadu at the National Games in Uttarakhand.
