PBA: Calvin Abueva sustains hamstring injury in Titan loss to Converge

Calvin Abueva, who had recently achieved a career-high 41 points for Titan Ultra in a surprising victory over Meralco, brought optimism to his team. However, this hope was short-lived as he suffered an injury during the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup game against Converge on Saturday, October 11.

In the match held at Ynares Center in Montalban, Abueva extended his hamstring in the first quarter, forcing him to sit out the remainder of the game. Before his exit, he contributed only 2 points and 1 rebound in just 4 minutes and 47 seconds of play, which contributed to Titan Ultra's eventual 92-129 loss.

Without Abueva, Titan Ultra faced significant challenges, trailing by up to 39 points. Joshua Munzon emerged as the team's top scorer with 31 points, but Converge's Juan Gomez de Liano made a notable league debut by recording a triple-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists, further exacerbating Titan Ultra's defeat.
