‘Opong’ washes away volley events
Two volleyball events were canceled on Friday due to inclement weather brought by typhoon "Opong" in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
The Shakey’s Super League (SSL) postponed its Preseason Unity Cup triple-header scheduled at the Filoil EcoOil Arena in San Juan. The matches included Adamson University versus Jose Rizal University at 6 p.m., College of Saint Benilde versus San Sebastian College at 2 p.m., and Lyceum of the Philippines University versus San Beda University at 4 p.m. The decision was made following the government's suspension of work and classes, with a new date for resumption to be announced later.
Similarly, the Strong Group Athletics (SGA) canceled a friendly match between sister teams Farm Fresh and Zus Coffee at the Gameville Ball Park in Mandaluyong City. The match has been rescheduled to October 3 at the same venue and time, and media availability sessions were also moved. Farm Fresh is led by former national team captain Rachel Anne Daquis, while Zus Coffee features seasoned player Jovelyn Gonzaga.
