11/10 20:01

Juan Gomez de Liaño made a historic debut in the PBA by recording the first-ever triple-double in a league debut for the Converge FiberXers. As the 2025 PBA draft No. 2 overall pick, he tallied 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists in a commanding 129-92 victory over the Titan Ultra Giant Risers at the Ynares Center Montalban on October 11.

Converge's strong team performance included Justin Arana posting a double-double with 28 points and 22 rebounds, while Schonny Winston (16 points), Justine Baltazar (15 points), Alec Stockton (13 points), and Kevin Racal (12 points) also scored in double digits. This win marked the first victory for new head coach Dennis "Delta" Pineda in his PBA coaching debut.

Gomez de Liaño commented that he was informed late in the game about needing a few more rebounds and assists to achieve the triple-double and expressed gratitude for the coaches allowing him to play through to accomplish the milestone, noting it was a positive start to his PBA career and the coach's first win.

For the Titan Ultra Giant Risers, Calvin Abueva, who had a career-high 41 points in their previous game, was limited to just 2 points due to a hamstring injury, playing only 4 minutes and 47 seconds. Joshua Munzon led the team with a game-high 31 points, but they dropped to a 1-1 record.

In another PBA Philippine Cup game, the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters began their campaign with a thrilling 96-95 overtime win against the Meralco Bolts, highlighted by Caelen Tiongson's double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds.
