Cool Smashers, Angels clash in PVL

13/10 20:01

The stage is set for a thrilling volleyball showdown between Creamline and Petro Gazz in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference on Tuesday at the Araneta Coliseum, as part of a triple-header schedule that includes Chery Tiggo versus Akari at 1:30 p.m. and ZUS against Galeries at 4 p.m., leading up to the main event at 6:30 p.m.

Creamline, the defending champions, are aiming to bounce back from a grueling five-set defeat to Akari, but showed promise with the return of three-time Most Valuable Player Tots Carlos, who contributed 12 points, while American import Courtney Schwan led with 26 points. Carlos expressed positivity about the team's effort and emphasized the need to focus on the next game, highlighting the limited preparation time and feedback from coaches as she returns from a six-month knee injury recovery.

On the other hand, Petro Gazz is riding high after a straight-set victory over Galeries, with Brooke Van Sickle leading the charge by scoring 14 points, slightly ahead of American import Lindsey Vander Weide's 13 points. Gary Van Sickle, Brooke's father and the new head coach, views the timing of the match against Creamline as advantageous, noting that the win provides momentum and plans for tough practice sessions to prepare for what he considers a rival team, aiming to extend their winning streak.
