Team Info
FSV Zwickau is a German football club from the city of Zwickau in Saxony, currently competing in the German Regionalliga Nordost, the fourth tier of the German football league system. The club, which plays in red and white, calls the GGZ Arena its home. Founded in 1912, the club has a complex history intertwined with the political changes in East Germany, having been known as BSG Motor Zwickau during the GDR era. Zwickau's peak era came in that period, winning the DDR-Oberliga (East German top flight) in 1950 and the FDGB-Pokal (East German Cup) three times. They were a consistent force in East German football. In the modern unified German system, the club has spent most of its time in the third and fourth tiers, with occasional forays into the 2. Bundesliga in the 1990s. Today in the Regionalliga, Zwickau is a full-time professional outfit with ambitions of returning to the 3. Liga, known for a disciplined and physical style of play. The club is supported by a passionate and traditional fan base, creating a strong atmosphere at home games. FSV Zwickau is a club with a proud East German heritage and a persistent drive to climb back up the football ladder.
