Team Info
Real Racing Club de Santander, commonly known as Racing Santander, is a Spanish football club from the city of Santander in Cantabria. They currently compete in the Segunda División. The club plays its home matches at the historic El Sardinero stadium, located near the beaches of the Bay of Biscay. Founded in 1913, Racing's traditional colors are green and white. The club has spent many seasons in La Liga, with their most successful period coming in the early 1930s when they were runners-up in the league. A more recent peak was in the late 2000s under coach Miguel Ángel Portugal, when a talented squad featuring the likes of Pedro Munitis and Nikola Žigić secured top-half finishes and qualified for the UEFA Cup. However, severe financial problems in the 2010s led to a catastrophic decline, including relegations and points deductions. The club is now in a long rebuilding process. The supporters, known as "racinguistas", are famously loyal, continuing to fill El Sardinero with hope for a return to stability and former heights.
