Team Info
Mypa, officially known as MYPA, is a historic name in Finnish football currently competing in the Ykkonen. The club is based in the town of Anjalankoski (historically Kouvola) and plays at the Saviniemi Football Park. Founded in 1947, the club's name derives from the local paper mill, Myllykosken Pallo, and its traditional colors are yellow and black. Mypa's peak era came in the 1990s and 2000s when they were a formidable force in the Veikkausliiga, winning the Finnish Cup in 1992, 1995, and 2004, and securing a famous league championship in 2005. That title-winning side was packed with Finnish internationals and played an attractive, possession-based game. After financial difficulties led to relegation and a spell in the lower leagues, the club was reformed. In its current Ykkonen incarnation, Mypa is working to climb back towards the top flight, relying on a mix of experienced heads and local youth, cherished by a small but deeply loyal group of supporters who remember the glory days.
