The Charleston Battery are a storied professional soccer club based in Charleston, South Carolina, and a founding member of the USL Championship, the second tier of American soccer. The team plays its home games at Patriots Point Soccer Complex. Founded in 1993, the Battery are one of the oldest continuously operating professional soccer clubs in the United States, with their traditional colors of black and yellow. The club's name pays homage to the historic coastal defense battery on Charleston's harbor.
